They set out to bring Beethoven to everyone.

And as they had a record with them they played for speedier
understanding Symphony no.5, in C minor, opus 67

But the man M. said it was too loud for him, he was getting old

In the night the bringers of Beethoven put up poles in streets and
sqares hooked up cables, connected loudspeakers, and with the dawn for
more thorough acquaintance came the strains of
Symphony no. 5, in C minor, opus 67,
came loud enough to be heard in the mute fields.

But the man M. said he had a headache, went home about noon,
closed doors and windows and praised the thickness of the walls

Thus provoked, the bringers of Beethoven strung wire on to the walls
and hung loudspeakers over the windows, and in through the panes came
Symphony no. 5, in C minor, opus 67

But the man M. stepped out of the house and denounced the bringers
of Beethoven; they all asked him what he had against Beethoven

Thus attacked, the bringers of Beethoven knocked on M.'s door and
when they opened up they forced a foot inside; praising the neatness of
the place they went in. The conversation happened to turn to Beethoven,
and to enliven the subject they happened to have with them Symphony
no. 5, in C minor, opus 67,

But the man M. hit the bringers of Beethoven with an iron ladle. He
was arrested just in time.

M.'s act was called homicidal by lawyers and judges of the bringers of
Beethoven. But they must not give up hoping. He was sentenced to
Symphony no. 5, in C minor, opus 67, by Ludwig van Beethoven

M. kicked and screamed, until the loudspeakers stopped beyond the
mute fields

He was just too old, the bringers of Beethoven said. But by M.'s coffin,
they said, are his children

And his children demanded that over the coffin of the man M. should be played
Symphony no. 5, in C minor, opus 67
