5.1 Construction of Morphemes with the Morpheme Browser

The morpheme browser allows to experimentally construct morphemes in both ways, namely from chord sets and from perspective sets (c.f subsection 3.1) and to switch between these two modes.

When being opened the browser offers a chord set consisting of all chords of a piece, from where subsets may be selected and used for morpheme construction. A small toolbox of set operations, symmetry operations and chord class generations allows to manipulate morphemes in many ways. The chords are graphically displayed as points in a 16× 16× 16 -cube (situated in the lower left area) and are listed to the right side of this cube. The upper right sub-window graphically displays the intension of the edited chord set in a TP-table. The Snapshot in figure 3 of the morpheme browser-window displays the morpheme Int(Ext(M ),Ext(M ) generated from a large chord set (see cube view), which previously was obtained
